Great Western Railway Operations
GWR is a Shortline Railway with head office located in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. This Shortline operates over 438 miles of track including the Shaunavon, Vanguard, Altawan, Notukeu subdivision, Fife Lake Railway and the Red Coat Road and Rail. Great Western Railway continues to serve the many communities and businesses in Southwest Saskatchewan by delivering, spotting, lifting and hauling rail cars to 40 siding locations. Cars are interchanged with CP Rail at Assiniboia and Swift Current.   In November of 2004 the rail was purchased by a large group of interested parties and now GWR is proudly locally owned.  January 2006, GWR became a part owner/shareholder of the Fife Lake Railway Ltd., with operating authority from Assiniboia to Coronach, SK.    In March 2007, GWR obtained a service agreement with Red Coat Road and Rail and an operating authority from Assiniboia to Pangman, SK.

Great Western Railway Ltd. is the longest shortline in Saskatchewan and handles the most producer loading sites of any shortline railway in Canada.
